The African Americans in WNC and Southern Appalachia Conference illuminates the African American experience in Southern Appalachia including history, culture, community, and enterprise. Now in its 6th year, the three-day conference seeks to eradicate incomplete and false narratives about African Americans in this region, while creating new possibilities for the future. This year’s conference will take place Oct. 17-19, 2019 with the theme of “Existence as Resistance: Expressions of Resilience.”
