Stories from the New Economy: Building from the Bottom-Up

September 12, 2019 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

The Western North Carolina New Economy Coalition (WNC-NEC) invites the public to hear Stories from the New Economy: Building from the Bottom Up.

Members of the national New Economy Coalition (NEC), will present these stories as #RadTalks, a series of “TedTalk” style presentations by some of the most dynamic and inspiring leaders in the new economy movement. Speakers include representatives of the MACED (maced.org), the US Federation of Worker Cooperatives (usworker.coop), Demos, Boston Ujima Project and PUSH Buffalo (pushbuffalo.org).

Each talk will highlight new economy initiatives in the US, such as community land trusts, worker cooperatives, community wealth-building, and more. The presentations will be followed by a Q&A interchange with the audience.

The free, public event will take place at the YMI Cultural Center, located at 20-44 Eagle St. in downtown Asheville. This will be a unique opportunity for our community to learn about the successes and challenges of an emerging bottom-up economy that puts people and planet first.

The event is co-sponsored by the Western North Carolina New Economy Coalition (wnc-nec.org) and the national New Economy Coalition (neweconomy.net). For more information, contact info@wncnec.org NEC Public Event – Sept, 2019
